Advancing Athletic Performance With Science

Dr. Amber Murphy, PhD

Dr. Amber Murphy is an expert in Sports Biomechanics and has worked with collegiate and professional track and field athletes, and collegiate football players on the track for more than 20 years. Dr. Murphy ran collegiately in the hurdles for the University of Florida. This interest in sprinting and hurdling led Dr. Murphy to be a leader in research on sprinting, hurdling and hamstring injury prevention.

Dr. Ralph Mann

Dr. Ralph Mann was a pioneer in the field of sport biomechanics. As an authority in analyzing elite amateur and professional athletes, his research has led to breakthrough teaching technology used worldwide.

A Legacy of Excellence

A world-class athlete himself, Dr. Mann’s personal experience informed his scientific work. His achievements include:

  • Olympic Silver Medal in the 400 Meter Hurdles, 1972
  • 5 national and 3 collegiate championships
  • Inducted into the USA Track and Field Hall of Fame in 2015

The Elite Athlete Program

Since 1982, Dr. Mann has served as the director of the Elite Athlete Program. He helped create this program to bring sports science to USA Track and Field, analyzing countless athletes to advance our understanding of performance.
